Its been raining daily since we started this project. God knows what signals he is trying to give us :P. well i hope our readers liked the pictures we posted before exams. yes our exams just got over and we are back with one more post, with one more untold story..

i just came out of the examination hall and what i see was my team waiting for me fully armed ( well with arms i mean umbrellas with an auto as i told you its been raining daily) to visit the vending zone. its been a trend i always come out of the examination hall at last :P. Well we went to the Non veg vending zone first & started clicking pictures but i think we created an uproar there as people started approaching us with loads of questions like " are you from TV? Are you guys from some new channel...please help us " we told them that we are from jaabhiyar college ( Xavier college) as they call it.

Suddenly we are stopped by a man & he ask us to please listen for a moment. He was with his wife, he told us that the area where he used to place his shop is being vacated by BMC and hes left with nothing now. We could see the helplessness in his eyes, he asked us to take up this issue to higher authorities as we are better informed than him. the tears of his wife made my heart shrunk. i could witness the graveness of the issue on his face telling the story of his lost world.....

Non-Veg vending zone

Non veg vending zone visit is an unforgettable one. Being a vegeterian it was my first meeting with a non veg market and that too i had too so closely witness everything and interview the vendor. we did not get very good response from this particular vending zone as they were not answering to our questions. But never mind Deepa got a lesson from there. she learned how to walk carefully as she accidently stepped into a cow dung and gave us a big reason to have our share of laugh. that was really funny clicking picturs without stepping into cow dung is the next upcoming novel written by Deepa Sarkar ( i am still not able to stop myself from laughing :D)

Virtual meet with vending zones

It’s a rainy day today oops it was rainy night actually at 4 in the morning the first thing I googled on my laptop (yes my best friend for 2 years of my MBA :p) was what is vending zone & the first link I get is of BMC, Bhubaneshwar. What I read was sheer a surprise as Odisha came out with a well-thought out strategy to give space for street vendors, yet save pavements for walkers. In December 2006, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation came up with the concept of a Vending Zone to de-clutter central Bhubaneswar and at the same time, rehabilitate street vendors. The concept appeared to be a win-win situation for both vendors and the administration. Vendors were allotted a vacant space nearer to the main road. In return, they were asked to ensure the stretch they vacated remained encroachment-free.

Stay tuned for pictures to come. Believe me Our team camera has done a great job. All our team members fortunately have brand new phones ;) so i expect the pictures to be good And yes big thing to mention we are all girls team. we are powerpuff girls ;) :P just kidding

When I decided to pursue my MBA from XIM, Bhubaneshwar odisha as a place was completely unknown to me but this place gave me a warm welcome with its eternal scenic beauty, calmness in the atmosphere n lots of green in the environment to soothe your eyes. As soon as I pulled my socks to cope up with the hectic schedule of MBA life, we as a class got an interesting project to address & assess the unaddressed issues of Bhubaneshwar. We were given an opportunity by our very own faculty Prof. D V Ramana to closely study the concept of Business on Streets and how it is doing wonders to the lives of the Hawkers. From Day One my team & I were delighted to capture this whole thing called Vending Zones.
